In 2023, with strategic guidance provided by our CEO and our Sustainability Council, management across Avery Dennison ensured that we continued to make progress toward achieving our sustainability goals.
The Sustainability Council is led by our enterprise sustainability leader, who is accountable for our progress and reports to our CEO. The Council consists of a cross-divisional and cross-functional management team that met regularly in 2023 to drive progress toward our 2025 and 2030 sustainability goals and ensure accurate reporting to our stakeholders. Our enterprise sustainability leader participated in our 2023 off-season stockholder engagements to report on our sustainability progress and answer questions from investors.
Board oversight of environmental sustainability and community investment is primarily conducted by the Governance Committee, which receives an update from our enterprise sustainability leader at minimum once a year. Board oversight of social sustainability is primarily conducted by the Compensation Committee. At meetings in 2023, the Committee discussed DEI, including pay equity and transparency. It also reviewed the impact of executive promotions, role changes and exits on U.S. racial/ethnic diversity and global gender and generational representation.
The Board receives an update from our enterprise sustainability leader at least once a year. In early 2024, the Board reviewed our 2023 Integrated Report, which includes our progress against our 2025 and 2030 sustainability goals.
